«Speaking and reasoning about food - explains Giovanni Benedetti , director of Coldiretti Lombardia and a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Monza Brianza and Lodi - is no longer just a topic for experts, but means taking into consideration a strategic lever for the economic and employment development of our country ».

"The trend on foreign markets - continues Benedetti - could further improve with more effective protection against the international" agro-piracy ", which invoices over 100 billion euros by improperly using words, colors, locations, images, denominations and recipes that refer to Italy for fake products that have nothing to do with the national reality ".

The most exported "made in Italy" products in the world are Chocolate, tea, coffee, spices and ready meals, which are worth 7 billion euros (+ 3.6%), followed by wines with 6.2 billion (+3.3 %), bread, pasta and starchy foods with 3.9 billion euros (+ 2.5%) but also 3.5 billion (+ 4.2%). Fruit (+ 2.4%), dairy products (+ 3.2%), meat and products not processed from permanent crops (including grapes, citrus fruits) also exceed € 3 billion. The largest increases were recorded for bread and pastry products with 1.2 billion (+ 72%), products for animals (+ 10.5%) and ice creams (+ 7.4%).
